LIONS LOOKOUT

Public BBQ

Lions Lookout perches in the hills like a well-kept secret that's unfortunately not secret enough. The views across Perth are genuinely spectacular, particularly at sunset when the city lights begin their nightly performance. The lookout offers modest facilities, two table areas, a patch of grass, and a solitary barbecue for those planning an extended stay. The car park tells a different story entirely: cramped, littered, and decorated with tyre marks from automotive artistry. What saves this place is the view itself and the occasional kangaroos, who seem blissfully unaware of the parking situation. The hiking trails offer a decent workout, steeper than advertised, while CCTV provides reassuring security. Visit early morning or midday to avoid evening crowds. Tall trees obstruct portions of the vista, but what remains visible makes the journey worthwhile.
